Metrolock supports the Mernda Needs a Police Station campaign. According the campaign spokesman Tom Joseph, “Mernda’s crime statistics are one of the worst in the state, with extremely high levels of burglary, family violence, and theft of and from motor vehicles.”

The new Labor State Government made an election promise of $15M to buy land and build the station. This promise was the result of months of campaigning by the Mernda Needs a Police Station group. Yan Yean MP Danielle Green said the station would be delivered during this term of government.

Let’s hope this is one election promise that is kept.
