How to keep your bike safe – Parkiteer!

Following on from last week’s post about the dramatic rise in bike theft in Melbourne’s inner north, many cyclists are probably wondering how to keep your bike safe? Well, there is a great new scheme that may help you prevent your bike from being stolen.

Parkiteer is a simple way to keep your bike secure while parked at train stations. There are 67 cages acroos Victoria, local stations include Coburg, Fawkner and Glenroy. The scheme is run by Bicycle Network Victoria.  To use the parkiteer cages, you just need to pay a $50 refundable deposit for an access card. This will give you access to all 67 cages in the network.

Parkiteer bike cages are convenient, undercover, secure places to park your bike at the train station. Entry to the Parkiteer cage is provided by an electronic card system, providing 24 hour monitored access and a 24/7 user support helpline (1300 546 526).
